Thousands of Oklahomans impacted by COVID-19 gathered to remember those lost as state Sen. Paul Rosino held a remembrance ceremony outside of the state capitol.

Rosino lost his son, Gregory Rosino, on July 4, 2021, and wanted to honor his son and all the lives lost to the deadly disease.

“Oklahomans are suffering every day, and people are starting to forget that as the pandemic is winging away, we have lost so many people and we should be kind and loving," Sen. Rosino said.

Guests in attendance brought pictures and mementos to the steps of the capitol's south side.

Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt led the ceremony with a invocation followed by speeches from legislative leaders and the archdiocese of Oklahoma City.
