Canadian Co. Sheriff's Office Calls For Audit To Increase Daily Reimbursement Rate For Inmates

The Canadian County Sheriff's Office is calling for a state audit, hoping to increase the daily reimbursement rate for keeping Department of Correction inmates at the county jail.

The sheriff's office wants to bump the rate from $27 to $40.

Canadian County commissioners approved to bring in the state auditor and inspector to see if $40 is an accurate rate.

The undersheriff said the DOC denied raising the rate and stopped responding.

The state auditor will either affirm Canadian County’s $40 number or come up with their own daily rate based on investigation.
