Easter is just days away and in honor of the holiday, clients at A New Leaf are delivering lilies around Green Country.
The non-profit helps adults with developmental disabilities to live and work independently.
Around 1,000 lilies will be delivered over the next few days bringing joy to customers and serving a greater purpose.
Maranda Figueroa is the Chief Development Officer for A New Leaf. She says the non-profit provides clients with opportunities like workforce development and independent living.
That includes things from helping people learn job skills and earning money to assist with daily tasks, like medication or transportation.
"Lilies is a big campaign for us that we have done for a number of years. And essentially, we bring happiness and joy to area churches and businesses. We provide the care for those lilies to give that decoration celebrating Easter,” Figueroa said.
Figueroa says campaigns like this one help teach customer service, plant care, and organizational skills along with emotional development.
A New Leaf also delivers poinsettias around the holidays and roses around Valentine's Day.
She says it's a win-win for customers who receive a beautiful plant while also supporting an important cause.
"But it also provides a lot of joy and hope and purpose for our clients as well when they see the faces as they make the delivery, the joy on our customer's face, that is transcendent into them as well,” Figueroa said.
A New Leaf will deliver through Saturday until the lilies run out.
