Rep. Brecheen Talks Debt Ceiling, Gov. Spending At Town Halls

Oklahoma Second District Congressman Josh Brecheen had town hall meetings Friday in Bartlesville, Dewey, Chelsea, and Oologah.

He spoke mainly about government spending, the deficit, and debt ceiling negotiations.

Brecheen said federal spending is unsustainable and a threat to national security.

“We have an economic death sentence a fiscal cliff we're facing if we don't get serious about runaway federal spending that's causing inflation, all of the causation, of bank failures,” he said.

Brecheen helped negotiate the deal to not increase the debt ceiling without a corresponding cut in spending, even if that leads to a government shutdown.

"Our economies have not failed over a government shutdown, not even a 35-day shutdown just a few years ago that very few people even remember," he said.

Brecheen blames Congress past and present for creating a massive debt that's led to even the potential of default.
