Garvin County Shooting Manhunt Enters Day 4

The search continues for a wanted man, charged with shooting a Cleveland County deputy and wanted on a felony murder warrant. An $11,000 reward is being offered for tips that lead to his arrest.

It's been four days since Kameron Jenkins was last seen, and authorities say they don't have any solid leads yet.

It all began around 10 a.m. Wednesday.

“I just immediately got in the car and started heading down to where he was at,” Cleveland County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Amason said.

One of his deputies attempted to make a traffic stop along I-35.

“That just shows you how quickly these things can turn violent,” Amason said.

Kameron Jenkins then shot Deputy Sean Steadman in the face, while another innocent bystander, Gwuan Frierson, was killed in the crossfire.

OSBI quickly stepped in on Wednesday, triggering a county-wide manhunt for Jenkins.

“We can just say right now that we are still actively searching for 25-year-old Kameron Jenkins,” Hunter McKee with OSBI said on Wednesday.

The manhunt spread across Garvin County as the community watched and hoped.

“You feel pretty safe when you know you have people like that looking out for you,” Rance Rue, a local business owner and resident, said.

“Hopefully they’ll find this gentleman wherever he’s at and bring him to justice,” said Terry Copeland, another Wynnewood resident.

Wynnewood Public schools took precautions Wednesday and Superintendent Byron Mooney made school optional Thursday.

“We gave them the option to bring them to school which is a safe place because we lock all of our doors,” he said.

The manhunt continued throughout the day Thursday.

“They’re going to see us a lot in the air, saturating the area, talking to neighbors, looking in barns, just doing our search,” Garvin County Sheriff Jim Mullet said Thursday. “We’re going to exhaust everything we have until we find him.”

On Friday, the U.S. Marshals took over the manhunt, stretching it statewide.

“I would say he’s a threat to the public wherever he’s at,” Marshal Johnny Kuhlman, Marshal for the Western District of Oklahoma, said in a press conference Friday.

Marshal Kuhlman said anyone with any information is encouraged to speak up.
