A 34-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday after two police pursuits and a subsequent crash, according to Shawnee Police.
Officers said Cory Burns struck a van during one of the pursuits, injuring both the passenger in her own vehicle and the driver of another vehicle.
"She wouldn't stop for officers. The officer initiated a pursuit, which led north of town, which led to Harrison and I-40 and onto the on-ramp where she struck another vehicle," said Cpl. Vivian Lozano of the Shawnee Police Department.
Both the passenger and the driver of the other vehicle remain hospitalized.
Police said that one night before the crash last week, she had been involved in another chase with authorities. This time, they said, Burns was on a motorcycle.
Authorities said at the time of both pursuits, Burns was wanted on felony warrants. Court filings show one of them was issued after Burns violated the terms of her probation in a case where she pleaded guilty to leading Shawnee police on a chase in 2021.
According to filings that chase spanned 45 miles, reached speeds of 100 miles per hour, and ended with Burns running a road block in Okfuskee County.
Despite pleading guilty, Burns served no prison time for the crime, a judge allowing her to serve her 20-year sentence while out on probation.
