Gregg Conway, the executive director at the Tulsa Boys' Home, talks about the work the nonprofit does and its signature fundraising event; the annual Buttercup Bash.
Gregg joined News On 6's Tess Maune on the Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch.
The Tulsa Boys' Home was founded in 1918. In 1979, the Tulsa Boys’ Home moved to a 160-acre site in Sand Springs.
The nonprofit can house up to 62 boys at a time.
Tulsa Boys’ Home offers equine programs, substance abuse, therapy, horticulture classes, treatment and an on-campus school.
Many of the staff members have worked there for 15 to 20 years. The Executive Director Gregg Conway has been there since the early 2000s.
The Junior Women's Association (JWA) hosted their first Buttercup Bash in 2008. Since then, it has grown to become the largest source of monetary support for the Tulsa Boys’ Home provided by the Junior Women’s Association.
The Buttercup Bash is a cocktail charity gala. It will be held on Saturday, February 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the John L. Rucker Warehouse (1227 S. Detroit Ave., Tulsa, OK 74120). JWA said complimentary valet parking will be available.
This year is “Bringing Back the 90’s," so JWA said to dust off your denim tuxedo, go find your platforms and get ready to party like it's 1999.
The gala will include local cuisines, casino games, dancing and a silent auction, JWA said. Tickets are $100 per person and $175 for couples.
All proceeds raised from the Buttercup Bash go directly towards sustaining the mission of the Tulsa Boys’ Home, JWA said.
