With an extra day of the year, many people wanted to make sure it counted. While some commemorated the day with a picture, others did something a little more permanent.

Some ladies wanted a way to strengthen their bond with one another.

They had been waiting for this day for weeks, but when it finally came, they got a way they could remember it forever, on their arms.

"Very excited, yeah, we've been planning it for a couple of weeks, said mother-daughter duo Robyn Corp and her daughter Lillian Barnes.

They were first in line at The Parlour Hair and Ink in Sand Springs.

"We wanted to get a mother-daughter tattoo where she would get the same as me," daughter Lillian.

They filled out their paperwork, chose the design they wanted and were ready to go.

That is, until they saw what shop owner Jamy Magee was working on.

"He said it was a frog for today and I was like 'Okay, we'll go for it,' I love frogs anyways," Lillian said.

Magee offered a special tattoo design of a frog so folks could celebrate the year's leap day, "why not? an extra day to do something crazy I guess," said Lillian.

So mom and daughter were ready to add their new reptile friend "Gary" to their arms.

"It means a lot, it's pretty cool. We're both into them and you know, why not," said Mom.

For them, it wasn't just about adding another tattoo to the collection.

"I want to be tatted pretty much all the way up. From the neck down," Lillian said, It was about creating a stronger and more permanent connection. "The bonding, yeah it makes us closer you know being able to do stuff like this together. It helps, it's nice, I love it," Robyn and her daughter said.
