Several organizations are coming together this weekend to help veterans get the benefits they need, including helping veterans receive help with healthcare or other benefits they may be eligible for.
The event, known as VETsStravaganza, is an initiative from the suicide prevention grant program from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Put together with several organizations including Oklahoma Veterans United and Cherokee Nation Warrior Wellness, organizers said this event is a big deal, because it is likely the first time several large Oklahoma veteran-support groups have come together.
"We want to show people that working together and building a community and collaborating with each other, that’s what’s going to most benefit a veteran," Staff Sergeant Parker Fox Program Manager Steffen Crow said. "Not siloing information and just trying to get them to come to your one particular program, but really coming together, showing a unified front, that this is an issue that not everyone can tackle alone."
VETStravaganza will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Sequoyah State Park Lodge.
There will be activities for the whole family to enjoy, while veterans get the information they need.
