A pair of Broken Arrow graduates were front and center during media day for Tulsa Football. Gavin Potter and Zach Marcheselli are new to TU this year as graduate transfers.

Being new doesn't mean that the duo gets to ease into their new surroundings. The pair is expected to elevate not only the level of play at linebacker but be leaders for the entire team.

"They have a passion and appreciation for the game and each other," according to Kevin Wilson. "They are probably the most energetic, most fun group on the field."

Gavin Potter led Broken Arrow High School to a 6A1 state championship with a perfect 13-0 record in 2018. He earned a three-star rating from 247Sports and Rivals, was a finalist for Oklahoma Defensive Player of the Year and received first-team all-state honors from The Oklahoman at linebacker. As a senior, he recorded 92 tackles (52 solo, 40 assisted), two sacks, 23 tackles for loss, three fumble recoveries, two blocked kicks, and an interception. Potter also won two state titles in wrestling.

Zach, a three-star recruit by 247Sports, was ranked as the No. 9 player in Oklahoma and No. 46 linebacker nationally. He amassed 202 tackles (150 solo), two sacks, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries during his junior and senior years at Broken Arrow. He recorded 101 tackles in his senior year, contributed to the Class 6A state championship win, and was named the All-World 2018-19 Boys Athlete of the Year. He also won state titles in wrestling alongside Gavin Potter.

Both have high level experience at Power 5 programs since their days at Broken Arrow. Marcheselli spent the past five years at TCU playing in 43 games and was a part of the 2022 Horned Frogs team that played in the National Championship. Potter transfers to Tulsa from Arkansas State where he played one season. Began his career at Kansas where he had 25 starts at linebacker. 2019 Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year honors.
