Tulsa police say at least five people were shot and several others injured in a shooting over the weekend near Apache Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Police said that a crowd of people was gathered when two women got into an altercation, leading someone to pull a gun and start shooting. Officers found shell casings from several different guns at the scene and said it was chaotic at the scene when they arrived. They said a man was shot in the head, while others suffered injuries to their legs or hands. Police believe there were at least four people firing shots.

TPD said it happened near a gas station around 4 a.m. Sunday when the two women began arguing, prompting a person to start shooting. Several 911 calls reported gunshots, and when police arrived people were everywhere.

"Scene security was big at this point because there were so many people and multiple puddles of blood laying around, so they know people had been hit, something bad had happened. They get it secured and find a victim laying in the grass,” said Officer Danny Bean with Tulsa police.

Police say the shooting spilled over into a gas station parking lot, and several victims were taken to the hospital before officers arrived.

“People were either fighting, or getting trampled, some other shots getting fired, random people like we always want to stop from getting hit, we always know these senseless shootings, sometimes people who are innocent in the shooting get hit. We saw multiple of those,” Bean said.

Police said that most of the people at the scene were uncooperative, but one witness later spoke with police about what happened. Officers said it's amazing no one was killed.

"A lot of times, someone is even unintentionally going to get hit and be hurt and maybe be killed. Probably more likely someone is going to die. Here we got lucky."

Police say they have a good idea of who was involved in the shooting, and all of the victims are expected to survive.
