Students from Owasso, Bartlesville, Sapulpa, Collinsville, and Union are getting up and ready for the first day and many of these districts are making some new changes this year.

In Bartlesville, the district is providing free breakfast and lunch to all students this year. The district is also launching a new app that provides digital menus. So you can see food options ahead of time.

Sapulpa Public Schools says students will notice some changes at the high school this year. as leaders have closed several hallways for construction as they prepare for a new high school building.

In Owasso, 90 bus drivers will be heading out to pick up about 5-thousand students to class. Students will be getting Chromebooks to help with learning this year.

It's also back to school for Union Public Schools on Thursday and new superintendent Dr. John Federline said they are starting the year with 120 new teachers and only 3 certified positions open. He said they’re working hard to combat the challenges they face.

“Pipelines are simply drying up educators know they can make more money in other states. We are not graduating as many students from our colleges with education degrees,” said Federline.

Union has staggered start times for different grades with the first bells starting this morning at 7:45.
