The Tulsa State Fair starts Thursday, and the Tulsa Health Department is making sure that fair food is safe.
THD has a long history of working with the Tulsa State Fair to make sure fair food is not just delicious but also safe to eat.
Health inspectors say they'll conduct frequent inspections during the eleven days of awesome to make sure vendors are using safe food handling practices, including making sure staff are washing their hands frequently and wearing gloves when needed.
If you're in line for food, you may notice a bright pink sticker on the stand window where you're buying food. That means it's been inspected and licensed by the health department.
Inspectors say they will put in more than 600 hours of work for the fair.
"We know and understand with the state fair, there are many people that are going to be here,” said Moses Betru with the Tulsa Health Department. “Like the elderly, children, immune-compromised, we want to make sure that they're having a good time as well as a safe time."
The fair officially opens on Thursday; tickets for all the events can be bought on the Tulsa State Fair website.
