In today's Medical Minute, we focus on World Sleep Day and how the World Sleep Society is urging people to sleep more.

Reports say that lack of sleep contributes to higher stress, less productivity, and more irritability.

CBS Reporter Michael George explains why it's so important to get more sleep and provides tips on getting a better night's sleep.

  1. Avoid heavy meals, nicotine, alcohol, caffeine before bed
  2. Go to bed at a consistent time
  3. Make your bedroom cool, dark, and quiet

Experts say that lack of sleep can be detrimental to you in more ways than one, including being two times more likely to be less productive at home and two and a half times more likely to be less productive at work.
