The anticipation is building as the 4th Annual Black Wall Street Biker Rally is set to begin on Thursday in the historic Greenwood District.
The Greenwood District is alive with energy as bikers begin to roll in for the rally. One enthusiastic participant shared that he drove a remarkable ten hours to be part of the celebration.
The event features more than 100 vendors, live performances, panel discussions, and even a golf tournament, promising an exhilarating experience for everyone attending this weekend.
Bikers like Christopher Simien have traveled long distances, riding for hours from Louisiana to join the rally for the third time.
Christopher Simien: "I came specifically for Greenwood. I did do a little bit of touring around. I know there's the HBCU, so I made a pass around there, and I spent most of my time right here in the local lounges in the area."
While the rally attracts thousands, with nearly 2,000 already registered, it also aims to build bridges within the community.
Byron Perry: "To impact the local community, we think, is by bringing others to be a part of the community, bringing people to Tulsa. We want visitors to come and experience Tulsa while they're learning about what was Black Wall Street."
Christopher and his friend have a passion for riding and often travel to various rallies across the country. This year, he wanted to bring his friend along for the ride to Tulsa.
Christopher Simien: "I'm very proud of Tulsa putting on this motorcycle rally representing Black Wall Street. It’s something that a lot of people of all cultures are not familiar with. I think it’s important, and I’m really grateful that’s why I drove 10 hours on that bike."
The riders usually explore different cities across the metro. The Tulsa Regional Tourism department estimates the event will contribute over $600,000 to the city's economy.
The Black Wall Street Rally runs from Thursday through Saturday, with some events requiring tickets.
