Jury finds Tulsa attorney not guilty of resisting arrest

A Tulsa County jury found a lawyer not guilty of obstruction of an officer.

Prosecutors charged Ron Durbin in August 2023 after they said he resisted deputies who were arresting him on the steps of the Tulsa County Courthouse.

Durbin, who live-streamed his walk to court and told viewers he was expecting to be arrested, was going to court on a misdemeanor assault and battery complaint.

He was charged in that case after Tulsa Police said he got into a fight with a security guard at a Tulsa City Council meeting.

The dismissal in the obstruction case comes as the Oklahoma Bar Association continues to fight to get Durbin’s law license permanently suspended.

The Oklahoma Supreme Court suspended it temporarily in 2024 after the bar association told the justices Durbin was not fit to practice law.
