Tulsa Public Schools leaders will decide next week whether to start the semester on August 31 with online classes only.

TPS Superintendent Deborah Gist said she is recommending they begin with distance learning only for the first 9 weeks of school.

In a letter to families, Gist said they've worked closely with health professionals to monitor the pandemic. She said new guidance from the state department of education points to delaying a return to in-person learning.

The board is expected to vote on Monday.
