Storm Chances Return To Green Country

Pleasant weather is expected on Monday with sunshine and a south breeze.

Here are the details from News On 6 Meteorologist Alan Crone:

A dynamic storm system will move into the state Wednesday bringing thunderstorm chances across central and eastern OK before another sharp arctic front rolls across the area late Wednesday evening into early Thursday morning. A period of strong to severe storms will be possible Wednesday evening across the southeastern quadrant of the state into northeast Texas, including the possibility of some heavy rainfall across the eastern third of the state. As cold air quickly filters into the area pre-dawn Thursday, some rain changing to snow will be possible on the backside of the departing system along and northwest of I-44. The extract track of the surface low will determine the exact location for rain changing to snow. We'll continue to update this track in subsequent updates.

Before the main system arrives, gorgeous weather is likely on Monday with sunshine and mostly light winds. Strong southerly surface flow is likely Tuesday and Wednesday bringing low-level moisture in the region by Wednesday. Fire danger issues will be of considerable concern Tuesday across most of the state, near and west of Highway 75 where near critical fire spread conditions are possible with winds near 20 to 40 mph along with low afternoon humidity. Wind advisories are likely for part of northeastern OK.

Monday temps will reach the mid-60s with sunshine and mostly light winds. High temperatures tomorrow will move into the upper 60s and lower 70s.

Much colder air is likely Thursday into Friday before moderating quickly into the weekend.
