When Skye Gipson dropped off her kindergartner at Holmes Park Elementary this morning, she noticed some commotion.
“I actually drove past. I didn’t know what was going on this morning after I dropped my daughter off. It was just kind of a lot of people around," she said.

The same goes for parent Kaley McGee.
“The cops had just showed up. There was a fire truck and ambulance everywhere. It was very scary. I saw the little girl on the stretcher actually and that like broke my heart right there,” she said.
Captain Troy Foreman with Sapulpa Police says a car ran over a 7-year-old girl.
He says as the driver exited the parking lot, she was looking left at traffic and the student was walking down the sidewalk to the right.
“When they went to pull out, they exited and thought they’d only hit the curb when in essence they hit the curb and also the child, running over the child,” he said.
Foreman says the driver had just dropped off her own grandchild and was unaware.
“Luckily, with video cameras nowadays, we were able to identify quickly the suspect vehicle, locate that vehicle, locate the driver, inform the driver of what had happened,” he said.
Captain Foreman says this serves as a reminder to be careful when driving near schools.
“Be very mindful. Slow down. Pay extra attention to the traffic and also children that can be walking,” he said.
Both Gipson and McGee agree.
“Sometimes there’s kids just running across the road and sometimes you really don’t see them,” said Gipson.
"Just so sad all around. Just a sad situation,” said McGee.
The little girl was alert when paramedics took her to the hospital. As of now, the extent of her injuries is unknown.
Police say the driver is cooperating and they haven't arrested anyone or written any citations.
