A Pottawatomie County man has accepted a plea deal and, therefore, admits guilt to killing his wife in a hearing on Friday.

Court records say Frank Byers waived his preliminary hearing earlier this year.

Investigators say in 2023, Byers shot Makayla Meave to death, then dumped her body in a culvert near the couple's Macomb home.

The Pottawatomie County District Attorney was initially seeking the death penalty.

On Friday, Byers accepted the plea deal and will face life in prison without parole.
