Earwax, or cerumen, can accumulate in the ear canal, leading to irritation, pain, hearing difficulties, and a clogged sensation. For those struggling with excessive earwax buildup, Dr. Lacey Anderson shared helpful tips on News 9’s Daily Dose segment.
To manage the issue at home, Dr. Anderson recommends using over-the-counter drops like D-Brox to soften the wax. After a few days, rinsing the ears with warm water using a bulb syringe can help flush out the buildup. She advises using body-temperature water to avoid dizziness and tilting the head to drain the wax effectively.
If home remedies don’t work, or if flushing the ears causes severe pain, Dr. Anderson urges viewers to seek medical attention. Doctors can safely remove wax buildup in the office if needed.
